Media information sharing workshop

A two-day Media Formation Workshop, organized by the Ava–Akha Language Catholic Media Team of the Diocese of Kengtung, one of the dioceses of the Catholic Church in Myanmar, was held on 4–5 July at the Kengtung Diocesan Pastoral Center. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to take part in the Church’s mission of evangelization through the media.

A total of 25 participants attended the workshop, which was facilitated by Ms. Elizabeth.

At the opening session, Bishop John Saw Yaw Han emphasized that, in today’s digital age, the mission of proclaiming the Good News through the media has become increasingly important. He encouraged the faithful to support this ministry through their service, talents, ideas, and financial contributions so that the Church’s media apostolate may continue to grow and flourish.

During the workshop, participants received formation on responsible citizenship, professional ethics, and digital journalism. They also learned about child safeguarding, the potential risks associated with media use and the appropriate precautions to take, as well as practical training in news gathering, photography, and video production.
